1. Digbeth Dining Club
First up is the Digbeth Dining Club (also known as DDC). This event collective has been ruling Birmingham street food since 2012, and they regularly host pop-up markets throughout the city.
This team has a permanent presence in the Jewellery Quarter in the Hockley Social Club.
However, you’ll also find them in Digbeth every Friday and Saturday in the Rainbow Venues Complex.
At this vibrant street food market, you can find all kinds of cuisine, including Greek food, Indian food, beef burgers, modern cheesecakes, and even loaded cheese toasties.
Level up your visit to the DDC in Digbeth with a visit to the nearby Cafe Lovelife. We’ve got plenty of fresh coffee to put a pep in your step, or you can visit us afterward for a creative cocktail. The choice is yours!
2. Bull Ring Markets
For centuries, the Bull Ring has been an unmissable stop in Birmingham. It’s home to some of the best markets in the city: the Bull Ring Open Market, the Indoor Market, and the Rag Market.
While The Bull Ring Open Market isn’t your typical hipster-approved street food market, it is home to over 130 local produce stalls. Perfect if you’re looking for fresh fruit and veg, fish, or meat and poultry.
Once you’ve finished shopping, stop by one of the street food trucks to satisfy your cravings.
This market is open from Tuesday to Saturday (9 am to 5 pm).
3. Hawker Yard
Located near China Town and Birmingham’s Gay Village, Hawker Yard is the city’s only purpose-built street food arena and event space.
Whether you crave vegan eats, loaded fries, or ramen, Hawker Yard offers plenty of mouth-watering fare. It’s also a hotspot for craft beer. Don’t skip this if you’re partial to an IPA or two.
Pro Tip: This street food market is fully covered — perfect if you’re looking for a rainy day activity in the city centre.
4. Moseley Farmers Market
Fancy a slice of country life? The Moseley Farmers Market offers fresh, local produce and healthy eats and is only a 15-minute drive (or 30-minute train) from the city centre.
Not only that but the Moseley Farmers Market was voted the best farmers market in the UK four times, proving it’s got what it takes to compete.
Expect over 60 vendors, traditional spit roasts, sourdough donuts, traditional pies, and plenty of artisanal baked goods. Other popular products include local honey, cheese, organic fruits and veggies, and bio meat.
5. Kings Heath Market
The Kings Heath Farmers Market is another pick that’s on the outskirts of the city, but totally worth travelling to. You can get here in 20 minutes by car or 40 minutes by bus.
Prepare to sample delicious cakes, fresh pastries, sausage rolls, local cheeses, warm pies, and other traditional street food bites made from organic produce.
The market is open on the first Saturday of every month.
This spot is also very close to The District Marketplace, an open food hall with typical street food eats, including Asian noodle bowls and fried chicken.
